Robert Bratton - trustee

Robert was raised and educated in Knox County and is a 1989 graduate of the University of Tennessee.He was married in 1993 and makes his home with his wife Maryanne and three children (Shaylee Grace, Miranda Hope, Boone) at 2005 Switchyard Lane in South Knoxville. The family attends Stock Creek Baptist Church.

Robert has worked in Knox County since he was 16 and has a superb record of community service on the Executive or Advisory Boards of:The Center for Neighborhood Development; Ijams Nature Center; James White Fort; Helen Ross McNabb Center Health Families, Baptist Hospital Rehabilitation Center; and the Volunteer State Veterans Hall Of Fame. Robert has also coached dozens of youth sports teams in our community over the years. He was selected for the Knoxville-Knox County CAC Leadership Class of 1992. Robert was elected to the Knox County Commission and served from 1990-1998. He voluntarily stepped down after completing his second term. During his years in elective office, Robert has also held full-time jobs in the private sector (The United Way, Child and Family Services, East Tennessee Public Television).

Robert's years of public service have been especially effective and productive for the people of Knox County. To cite just a few of his efforts and accomplishments:

• Sealed (News-Sentinel) the agreement for the federal start-up funds for
the Knox County DUI Special Prosecutor
• Strongly supported the people‚s right to vote on and control term limits
• Legislation to increase County branch libraries
• Vigorous, improved law enforcement, including strict enforcement of
County beer laws
• Sponsored and passed the Knox County Open Container Ordinance
• By personal close-review/spending cuts in the county budget, directly
helped to keep Knox County property owners "among the lowest taxed"
(News-Sentinel; Money Magazine) in the nation.
• Has strongly supported home owners and neighborhoods, including
everything from joining in ( with gloves and a pickup truck) in clean-up
campaigns, helping initiate Neighborhood Watch programs, and gaining
improved subdivision drainage and sewage disposal
